Bosjes

The astounding Bosjes Chapel, designed by Steyn Studio, is part of the Bosjes Wine Estate in the beautiful Breede Valley, South Africa. Rich in history and natural splendour, with steep mountain ranges on both sides, and the Breede River that winds through the valley, it is a place of rest and quiet. We visited for a delicious lunch at Bosjes Kombuis. The restaurant is elegant and minimal with glass gable walls facing the mountains in each direction, high ceilings, wooden interior-cladding, and linear metal construction.

We then took a leisurely stroll around the new gardens, so meaningfully landscaped by CNdV Africa using only plants mentioned in the bible. We took our time soaking in the views and wandering the meandering paths before walking down to the much-anticipated chapel where we revelled in its spectacular widespread roof and glass faceted walls. The incredible sweeping curvilinear roof follows the peaks of the mountain ranges on either side of the valley, and is akin to large white wings that stems from the chapel’s biblical inspiration. The brief was simple and complex. The family wanted a chapel inspired by Psalm 36:7, which holds special meaning of them: “How precious, O God, is  your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of your wings.”

Bosjes is a beautiful wedding venue, close to Cape Town with stunning contemporary style, we would love to photograph a wedding here one day!
